Paloma Faith: Special Twitter Q&A Session.


Paloma took part in a very special question and answer session on Twitter this afternoon. The session was very popular with fans, so much so that #askpaloma became a trending topic in the UK and also worldwide. Unfortunately Paloma was unable to answer every single question she received. Below you can see the questions that she did answer.

What is your favourite film of all time?
2046 by Kong Kar Wai.

Who are the women you admire in today's music industry?
Florence Welch, Shingai Shoniwa, Adele, Alison Mossheart, Lianne La Havas, Beyonce, Lady Gaga, PJ Harvey, Erykah Badu, Jill Scott, Aretha Franklin, Coco Rosie, Lana Del Rey, Candi Staton, Grace Jones, Bjork, Azealia Banks, Missy Elliot.

Who is your favourite British Film Composer and produce who is doing the Olympics?

Favourite British film composer doing the Olympics, which I should be involved in cause I'm from Hackney - David Arnold.

How does it feel to put your heart on your display for millions to see?
It feels like a pretty vulnerable place to be standing on a stage, singing about feelings you have had! Worse if they don't like it!

When can we expect a new album?

My album is out May 28th and single May 20th I CAN'T WAIT!

What is the most inspiring thing someone has ever said to you?
Never give up
It's never the end of the world
Accept who you are.

Who is your favourite classical music composer?
Erik Satie, Michael Nyman, Bach.

Will you marry me?
I will marry everyone.

When are you going to do an American tour or perform here in the US?
I would really love to come to the USA and tour and promote YES! I am trying my absolute hardest! Cannot wait!

Why is it so hard to hear the new material in the US right now?
Because I haven't sorted the deal yet! WE ARE WAITING FOR THE SUITS.

What kind of environment do you need to be at your most creative?
I write lyrics ALL the time. So just as I go through life, I write down lyrics. I rarely sit still in the early stages.

Who is your ultimate inspiration?
My Mum, she fought hard to escape and better her background and always focused on her career and not a man!

What is your favourite album?
Portishead - Dummy
Erykah Badu - Mama's Gun
D'Angelo - Voodoo
Anything by Prince!
Eurythmics - Touch
and Lauryn Hill's Miseducation.

What is your favourite food?
I love cooking and eating! But today I think my favourite food is Dim Sum.

What is your favourite TV Show?
I love Sopranos and I love Twin Peaks, been re-watching box sets!

If you could duet with anyone in music history, who would it be?
The late great (in my view, best ever) ETTA JAMES!

What was it like working with a music genius like Nellee Hooper? His music is always so cinematic like yours!
Nellee Hooper IS a genius. He totally understands my language when many don't! We both love film & art so it was a match made in heaven!

If you had a time machine, where would you go and what would you do?

I would go to see Billie Holiday perform in the brothel she used to sing in.

How are you so god damn perfect?
Nobody is perfect! Don't think that about anyone or they'll have a long way to fall!

So tell us what your wardrobe is actually like? Is it all over the floor?
My living room is a wardrobe!! I have two 2m long rails in rainbow colour order and half a living room floor full of shoes.

Was it your idea to not have the photo re-touched on your artwork for the new single 'Picking up the Pieces?'
Yes I wanted the world to see me for who I really am, in my most vulnerable state. That's what the album is about.

When are you going to tour, I need to see you live again ASAP?!

If enough people buy my single I will tour really quickly!!! People keep asking about tours and I will be touring in as many places as I can. It's the reason why I do this. Dates to be announced.

What advice would you give to people who want to follow their dreams?
Don't give up if you believe in YOU! Take advice from people you trust and admire, hopefully they will be helpful!

If you could trade lives with anyone for a day who would it be and why?
I'm stuck! I think I'd like to see what it was like to be a man. So I could understand! He would also have to be an insomniac so I experience the full 24 hours!

Who is the person you would most like to meet (choose anyone)?
Timothy Spall who I am going to meet next week. I think I will cry!

Will 'Just Be' be on the new album?

Yes! Just Be will be on the album and I am very happy about that!

Which book has left the biggest impression on you?
Immortality by Milan Kundera! I need to re-read it though!

 Where is your favourite place on earth?
London, it's my home and it's a very special home. It's a place you just keep discovering over and over.

The most magical thing you have ever seen is?
All of my fans arms waving in the air at a gig, slowly, like a water feature.

Your favourite memory?
Being 5 on the back of my stepdad's motorbike with arms stretched out and not holding on! (naughty)
