Tomorrow marks a day that many Paloma fans have been counting down to for months, it is the date that 'Picking up the Pieces', the stunning new single from Paloma's forthcoming album 'Fall to Grace' (out May 28th) is released. Earlier last month, we were treated to a preview of the single on Paloma's YouTube channel, shortly followed by the exclusive premiere of the music video created to accompany it; where against a backdrop of grandeur with a beautiful cinematic feel, we encounter the main character's feelings and emotion of having been seemingly rejected by the man she loves for his former lover. As Paloma explains 'Picking up the Pieces is a song about the issues of being in a relationship with someone who is still recovering from a previous relationship'.
It seems that 'Picking up the Pieces' strikes a chord with the majority of listeners because it focuses on a situation that most people have experienced at some point in their life, whether this is from a first-hand experience or not. It is also the kind of song, which after the first few listens really gets into your head - behind the beautiful, uplifting and catchy backing of the track; you really witness the power and emotion evident in both Paloma's lyrics and vocals 'In her shadow is it me you see? Cos all that's left is you and I and I'm picking up the pieces she left behind'. All in all it makes for an honest but deliciously seductive track that most listeners should find hard to resist.
